Timex 100 tm

"It takes a licking and keeps on ticking" I saw this add on TV 20 years ago, and It's still true.Only they all run on batteries now :-)

Poor substitute for a great watch

For years I owned a Timex Alarm Chronograph watch. It was a great timepiece, all stainless steel; it took a lot of hard use and still looked good. When it finally broke down Timex couldn't fix it but only offered to replace it with a watch with fewer features.
The only watch Timex offered like it iwith the same features, alarm chronograph, timer etc. was the Atlantis 100. (I wouldn't be surprised if it has the same electronics inside.) However it is not nearly as good a watch. The body is made of plastic with a silver coating which wears off and looks shoddy. The LCD part is set deep into the watch, it is like looking into the bottom of a well, making the numbers hard to read. The clasp on the band has a way of becoming unhooked, just at the wrong times. I don't know why they stopped making the better product; I would buy it at event twice the original price.

Watch is fine, wrist band not so good

I bought this watch as a duplicate replacement for one my husband's been wearing for many years. Our only complaint is that the pins keep coming out of the wrist band! Not cool.

Great Job

Arrived on time, in fact before expected. The watch was exactly what I was looking for, as Wal-Mart discontinued the model.

A reliable timepiece.

I don't remember the exact age of my watch, but I think this watch is getting to be about 9 years old. It is on it's third battery. I thought a watch of such extreme age could no longer be water resistant, but it survived a trip thought the washing machine.

Unlike other guady sports watches, this model is relatively thin in depth and thus more confortable to wear.

The bad news about this watch is that the case will lose it's silver and the band will eventually fall apart. The good news is that you can buff off the rest of the silver, buy a leather watch band and the watch won't look too bad.

SEIKO 5 - the meaning of the "5" A great marketer had the idea in the 70ies: to be a SEIKO 5, the watch has to have the following 5 (five) attributes (thus the name SEIKO 5): 1. Automatic, 2. Water resistant, 3. Shock resistant, 4. Date, 5. Day. Please note that some SEIKO 5's are in fact SEIKO 4's, if the "Day" function is omitted, then the Caliber 7S25 is used. The only difference to the normally found 7S26 is the omission of the day wheel. Also re-issues of SEIKO 5 Sports often use the 7S36 caliber. Again the 7S36 is similar to the most popular 7S26, yet it features 23 Jewels as opposed to the 21 Jewels in the 7S26. Please note that all these movements beat at a rate of 21'600 bph (beats per hour) or 6 bps (beats per second). As a comparison, an ETA 2824-2 beats at 28'800 bph or 8 bps. A Miyota 82xx beats at 21'600 bph. Why do I mention these three movements? Because they are found in probably 80% of all inexpensive automatic wrist watches. A market share that is huge, yet challenged these days (2006) by an increasing share of inexpensive China Made automatic movements. An automatic watch (also called a self-winding watch) is a mechanical watch, typically with a balance wheel escapement, whose mainspring is wound by the motion of the wearer's arm, instead of having to be wound manually every day. Whereas a quartz watch is powered by electricity, a mechanical watch is powered by a mainspring which must be rewound for the watch to keep time

    Affordable and Dependable

If you are looking for a cheap, durable watch, look no further. As a student, it suits my needs perfectly. It has a large, clear display, which includes the date, alarm indicator, hour-beep indicator, and PM indicator. The electro luminescent backlight works wonderfully, and I've noticed that the face doesn't get scratched if it makes contact with a wall. It's water resistant, so you don't have to worry about it when washing your hands. I've used the alarm on several occassions, and I have no complaints. It beeps loudly for around 30 seconds, so unless you are a particularly heavy sleeper you should have no problems with it. Also, I've seen complaints about the size of the band...I wear it on the fourth notch from the end and I am an average-build 6 foot tall male. If you are heavy-set or muscular then this watch might not be for you. I've never had any use for the timer function, but I've read that a lot of people find it useful. The controls are very user-friendly...no complaints here. If you are looking for a flashy watch, or one you can take into the pool, then you'll want to look elsewhere. Otherwise, you can't beat the value. It has a seven-year battery and costs about as much as a CD.

Works fine, not too thick, a little non-intuitive, no year

It is thinner than a lot of more modern watches (I measure it as 9.5mm). Compared to the older Casio I replaced, it has one fewer button which makes it a bit non-intuitive (the light button is used for setting things). It also is missing the year, so I assume I must manually adjust for leap-years (not to mention the DST).

    My dad loves it!!!!!!!!!!

Got this for my dad for Fathers Day. His other watch broke, he doesnt like the "fancy" ones they got today(as he puts it). He wanted a simple watch. Well this one has the time(hope so), day and date, and his loves the light, he goes to the movies at least once a week, so the light helps tremulously. Plus day + date is on same face no pushing buttons, someones always asking that. If you like a watch that is simple, just time and day is all you need to know, not all that other "fancy" stuff this watch is for you.

    Questions & Answers
Question : Do I need sprinting shoes for cross country?
I know cross country is a long distance, and not really sprinting sorta sport but i was wondering if i should get light weight sprinting shoes for races... So do I need sprinting shoes for cross country? help! thanx! :)

    Answer:
You should get just running shoes to train in, but for races and such, I would say you should buy flats ( flats are light-weight and helps you move faster in races). You can buy flats at Snail's Pace. It shouldn't be too expensive.

Question : what are the best shoes for cross country racing?
I am new to cross country so I need a little guidance in what type of shoes to get....

    Answer:
it depends on how you run where i live (Houston, TX) there are two shoe stores "finish strong" and "Luke's locker" they will see how you walk and give you shoes good for you

Question : where do you buy your cross-country shoes from
do you buy your cross-country shoes from a store or on the internet

    Answer:
do you buy your cross-country shoes from a store or on the internet

Question : recommendation for cross country running shoes?
this's my 2nd year doing cross country, and i haven;t found shoes that really fit me. I went to shoe store and ask for help, but really they don;t help that much. I'm trying to find shoes train for racing. do any body have a good experience with cross country shoes? are the shoes the lighter the better?

    Answer:
Right now, the most popular shoe for XC runners on the market right now are the Nike XC Forevers. http://www.eastbay.com/catalog/advancedSearch/search--k/keyword--distance+shoes/cm--TnDdTrackDist That link will give you a website with nice shoe options and cheap to. The forevers came out with "new" colors, but are $40 more than the orginal colors. If you want to pay a little extra to be a little flashy than go ahead, but if not I recommend the $50 Forevers. Most of the kids on my team wear them. Also if you decided to buy from the site Eastbay, you can google "Eastbay coupons" and you can find 20% off coupons.

Question : What are good Cross Country race shoes?
I have never done Cross Country before but have done track. So for cross country are spiked shoes good or are non spikes better? Any brands and models you recommend? I personally did not enjoy running with spikes in track because I thought it was harder for some reason, I guess this is just a personal preference. But what would you recommend? Just regular Asics shoes?

    Answer:
I'd suggest spikes. Over 5k, you may have hills, dirt, mud, woodchips, or even sand. All of this terrain means that a secure grip so you don't slip and your feet don't slide is very important. Spikes are therefore important. I'm a fan of saucony, notably the Saucony Kilkenny spike, but not everyone likes those. I'd go to a running store and have them fit you, and to try different shoes out. Good luck this season! ~Abab

Question : What are some good stores for cross country shoes?
With removable spikes/no spikes. I really just want them to be light!

    Answer:
Fleet Feet is seriously the best place. all runners that i know go there. they help you find the right shoe for you. its great. my spikes are sooo LIGHT! i love them the website is http://www.fleetfeet.com/ and they have locations like everywhere. you can also order them online

Question : where can i buy good cross country running shoes at a desent price?
I need running shoes and running shorts, shirts, sweet pants,ect... for high school cross country please help

    Answer:
If you have Big 5 store in your area, they have great prices on running shoes, running outfits. Great deals on New Balances, Reeboks..ect. Thats where i would purchace my stuff for track. Nextag.com and eastbay.com have great variety on spike long distance shoes and clothing

Question : What type of cross country shoes should I purchase?
The best answer would provide me with two pairs of shoes, 1 pair for racing and 1 pair for training. Spikes or flats? If so, what brand/specific model should I get?

    Answer:
spikes usually are alot better for cross than flats so i would get a pair of those for racing, im not going to name a specific type of shoe that you should get because the best shoe is really different for each person like for example if you over pronate you should get a different shoe than your friend that under pronates. for trainers again i wont name a brand our model, for pretty much same reasons. my best advice too you is too go to a running specialty type of store (not a footlocker or champs) because running stores usually have people working there that are runners and can know what type of shoes would be best for you

Question : what props can I use to represent cross country besides shoes?
I'm giving a presentation on something I know a lot about in class. I've chosen to do mine on cross country. Because I know what techniques you need, and what foods to eat and etc... But we have to have two props. All I can think of to use is my shoes, what else can I possibly use?

    Answer:
You could mabey bring in like a sweatband or find out about a famous cross country runner and write his name really big on a piece of paper or something like tht

Question : what are some cross country shoes?
in high school used to do football switch to cross country what are good running shoes

    Answer:
get spikes. not the ones with the really thin bottoms...those are sprinting spikes. the bottoms should be about 5cm thick at the heel.
